Andy Reid says K Cairo Santos has bulked up and 'has the guns hanging out'

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Andy Reid doesn't seem like a funny guy ... but he really is.

The Chiefs head coach had a great quote on Thursday about kicker Cairo Santos, who is listed at 5'8 and 175 pounds.

"Cairo has put on a little weight and strength," Reid said. "That was one of his things coming in this year. Last year he looked like he could ride American Pharoah, is it called? Now he's bulked up a little bit. He's kind of proud of it too. He's tightened up his sleeves and he has the guns hanging out. He's doing good. Looks a little stronger than last year."

In all seriousness, the Chiefs could use a stronger Santos now that extra points have been moved to 33-yard kicks.

"I think just the 20-yarder you can get away with miss-hits," Santos said at OTAs this week, via quotes from the Chiefs. "They'll still go in, but the 33, it starts to get in that awkward range where a miss-hit might not go in. So you just have to keep getting consistent. So I think in the long-run it will be great for kickers. Now you've got to be more consistent than ever. It will be good and add more value to kickers I think."
