Kansas City Chiefs cut Ricky Henry, sign former Packers tight end

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs cut G Ricky Henry and signed TE Ryan Taylor, according to the NFL's transactions list.

Henry's release is a mild surprise to me. I haven't seen much of him lately but prior to last season there were some folks that had him making the 53-man roster. He ended up on the practice squad instead. The Chiefs have more guard depth entering 2015 than they did a year ago.

Taylor is a 2011 seventh round pick by the Green Bay Packers. In the last two years he's been with the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins. With Travis Kelce, Demetrius Harris and fifth round pick James O'Shaughnessy it's tough to see another tight end make a dent.

This leaves the Chiefs at 90 players.
