Kansas City Chiefs cut two players ahead of rookie minicamp

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Two names popped up on the NFL's transaction wire today as having been waived by the Kansas City Chiefs: DT Hebron Fangupo and TE Brandon Barden.

There were reports that the Chiefs had two more undrafted free agent signings coming, including Charles Tuaau, who we just wrote a story on, and Villanova's Earnest Pettway, per Terez Paylor. That meant they needed two more roster spots to make room for them and these two players are the unlucky ones.

Fangupo was a 2012 undrafted free agent who has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers before his initial stint with the Chiefs last season. After a stop off in Washington he returned to the Chiefs on a reserve / futures contract but his time is now up. Barden was also one of the Chiefs reserve / futures contract signings after the season.
