In the nearly nine years we've been running this blog this is one of my favorite stories.
The downstairs room in Bell's Kansas City home could double as a sports museum. But when Bell stood in there last year, surrounded by awards, something was missing. "My dad always said, 'You're going to finish up there and get your diploma?'" said Bell, who left Minnesota several credits shy of graduating to pursue his professional career. "I kept saying, 'Yeah, I'm going to do it.' But I just kept putting it off. "Last year, I said, 'I've got to do it. I'm not going to put if off another minute.'"
So he didn't. Kansas City Chiefs and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bobby Bell earned his college degree and walked across the stage at Minnesota's graduation on Thursday night. Anyone who says it's too late to go back to school can be shown this video and these pictures of Bell walking across the stage. Congrats, Bobby Bell!
