Yes, draft grades the day after the draft are very stupid. Yes, we're going to do them anyway. It's all in good fun so we can look back in a few years at how we viewed these draft picks.
My first reaction to the pick: I like it. I started to talk myself into this pick earlier in the week. Jon Gruden and Andy Reid both feel he is the best cornerback in the draft and those who know Andy Reid say this is a good fit for Peters. Reid repeatedly mentioned how physical he was when talking to the media. The Chiefs need that type of corner.
The Chiefs need a cornerback and Peters has a legitimate chance to be the best corner from this draft. The downside is obviously that he was kicked out of Washington. I don't know all the issues there -- apparently it was a confrontation with a coach that helped do him in -- but that's something the Chiefs felt comfortable with. Reid mentioned that Peters is coming to a strong locker room so they believe they can handle it.
SB Nation's Dan Kadar gave the Chiefs an A- on the pick.
Here's how the initial wave of Chiefs fans grade the decision to select Washington CB Marcus Peters:
