The Kansas City Chiefs have a new cornerback in Marcus Peters, who was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Peters comes to the Chiefs as one of the top corners in the draft but also with plenty of question marks after he was kicked off his college team.
We've seen this debate before where you have to weigh the talent against the character concerns. Andy Reid and the Chiefs obviously believe they have a staff in place to handle it.
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah and ESPN's Jon Gruden had this reaction to the pick:
Andy Reid is the perfect coach for Marcus Peters

"Best corner in the draft & it is not even close. He is going to the best locker room he could go to." - Jon Gruden pic.twitter.com/bqIVx7B2qX

We shall see. I'm optimistic with this pick because the ceiling is so high.
More reactions from Chiefs fans and media:
Was hoping the draft fell this way. Defensive playmaker just added to the NFL's second-ranked scoring defense from a year ago. #ChiefsDraft

Peters at combine: "I made some immature decisions at (UW) and it hurt me truly. I’ve just got to learn from my mistakes & I grow from it.’’

Don't underestimate the value of Al Harris on the development of Marcus Peters w/@KCChiefs . Can't get a better teacher of bump & run tech

Marcus Peters thrown off team for arguing w/ his coaches, temper. And #Chiefs Andy Reid seems mellow with his players. Nice fit?

Based on talent alone Marcus Peters is the best corner in this draft. Athletic, confident and will take chances.

Marcus Peters allowed just a 38 percent completion percentage against over the past two seasons for Washington. #ChiefsDraft

Wow...Marcus Peters can play...one of best players in draft...but his list of transgressions is Old Testament length ....

While on question of character, #Chiefs just took CB Marcus Peters, who was off #Cowboys draft board

Could see Marcus Peters to Chiefs from a mile away
