We're tracking all the big and small Kansas City Chiefs free agency rumors here but this is what you missed on a fun Sunday.
Chris Mortensen reported this on Sunday night. We don't have any contract numbers yet so that will color the way we view this signing but Jeremy Maclin knows Andy Reid's system and can step in and contribute immediately. Given the turnover they're experiencing at receiver, that was important. The deal should be officially announced on Tuesday when free agency opens.
$44.5 million over five years, according to Jason La Canfora. That's nearly $9 million per year. A HUGE contract. The Chiefs couldn't go that high so now Hudson will face Dontari Poe and the Chiefs twice a year.
He had just one year remaining on his deal so this looks like a pay cut. Tamba made it clear that it wasn't about the money with him and he wanted to return to the Chiefs. We have yet to see the details of the revised contract but the cap number should be less.
It's one thing to like him; it's another to think you can sign him. I just can't see any scenario where the Chiefs would fit Revis under the cap. Plus, there is some fierce competition for him. The Jets can offer more money and the Patriots can offer the chance to play in Super Bowls.
Terez Paylor linked him to the Texans. Giants beat writers are now mentioning his name. It sure looks like Parker played too well and priced him out of Kansas City. Someone will pay him more than what the Chiefs can. There is reportedly interest in Kurt Coleman returning so perhaps he could replace Parker at safety.
