Josh Mauga was set to be a free agent on March 10 but instead he'll be coming back to the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year contract worth close to $8 million. This according to ESPN's Adam Schefter who reported the news.
Chiefs re-signing LB Josh Mauga to a 3-year deal worth close to $8 million, per source.

This is an interesting move. Herbie Teope previously reported the two sides had discussed a deal at the Combine. I'll be honest, I did not expect a multi-year contract here. Pro Football Focus suggests he wasn't a very efficient tackler. I thought if he came back it would be on a shorter deal. I'll need to see the details on this one...
Mauga was forced into action early last year when Derrick Johnson and Joe Mays were out with injuries. He did well enough for a backup early on in the season but it appeared injuries took their toll down the stretch. DJ will (presumably) be back in Kansas City but Mays has been cut.
Before coming to Kansas City last season, Mauga spent time in New York under then-Jets assistant coach Bob Sutton, who is now the Chiefs defensive coordinator.
We'll see how this affects the Chiefs salary cap. They are tight up against as it is so adding additional space here for Mauga won't help the situation.
