Chiefs free agency rumors: Former Packers WR working out for Kansas City

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly working out a former Green Bay Packers receiver. No, it's not Randall Cobb. It's Kevin Dorsey, a receiver cut by the Packers just last week. Aaron Wilson of National Football Post reports that Dorsey has a workout scheduled with the Chiefs this week.

Dorsey is a 6'1, 207-pound receiver out of Maryland. He was selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent time on IR with the Packers his rookie season before they cut him entering the 2014 season. He was re-signed in October and cut last week. He has one career catch to his name.

He has worked out for the New England Patriots previously and will reportedly work out for the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers, according to the report.

The Packers selected Kevin Dorsey in the 2013 draft, after Chiefs GM John Dorsey had already left Green Bay so he doesn't have that true Packer connection. The Chiefs and Packers seem to have interest in similar players so I wouldn't surprise me if John Dorsey did some scouting on Kevin Dorsey before the 2013 draft.

If I'm a free agent receiver, I'm interested in the Chiefs. They need so much help at receiver that a player like Dorsey could be more likely to make it on the Chiefs roster than somewhere else.
