It's not known yet if the Kansas City Chiefs will be players in free agency. But if they do clear up some salary cap space and decide to make a run at someone in free agency, there could be a few quality receivers available.
Neither Jeremy Maclin nor Randall Cobb were franchise tagged by the Eagles or Packers, respectively, on Monday afternoon. The Chiefs brass has connections to each as you know; Andy Reid with Maclin while with the Philadelphia Eagles and GM John Dorsey's time in Green Bay with Cobb and the Packers.
Judging by the reports out of Philadelphia, it seems like there's a possibility that Maclin does return to Philly before free agency opens on March 10. That would mean he could be a no-go for the Chiefs. Of course this is free agency season when things can change very quickly. We'll see.
Then there's Randall Cobb, who is reportedly expecting quite the pay day.
Last month was told Cobb was seeking $9 mil/year. @TomSilverstein says it's now $12M. Price could've gone up after gauging interest in Indy

If Cobb is truly seeking $12 million per year and other teams are interested in paying that, you can say goodbye for the Chiefs. I can't imagine they would be a player for Cobb at that price.
Here's a look at some free agent receivers not named Cobb or Maclin.
The Chiefs need to clear more cap space before free agency opens on March 10 to fit Justin Houston's franchise tag in. From there, things could be tight if they decide to try to keep players such as Dwayne Bowe, Tamba Hali or Mike DeVito. If the Chiefs decide to move on from some higher-priced players, however, they would create more cap space. Either way, it will cost them.
