Where the Kansas CIty Chiefs stand

Headed into the crux of the offseason, how much perceived ground do the Chiefs have to make up?

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

In just over a week, NFL free agency will begin (March 10) and cause both people within the league and fans of all 32 teams to go insane. Player movement will be fast and furious, potentially changing the outlook of a team with a single swipe of the pen.

For the Kansas City Chiefs, many view this offseason as the most critical in some time. Coming off consecutive winning seasons, the Chiefs appear poised to become a legitimate contender with a couple of correct moves. Add in 11 draft picks and the potential of cap space, and Kansas City has reason to be excited about its team.

All of this makes the present a good time to take stock in where the Chiefs are perceived to be in relation to the other NFL teams. We can then check back after the draft and see how the odds have changed, giving us an idea of not only whether Kansas City has regressed or progressed, but how its rivals are faring.

Here are the odds for Kansas City winning the AFC Championship in Jan. 2016, provided by TopBet.
