After seven seasons, the Thomas Gafford era appears to be ending in Kansas City.
Source says #Bears expected to sign veteran long snapper Thomas Gafford, who spent last 7 seasons with #Chiefs

If you don't recognize his name, Gafford is the Chiefs long snapper and has been since the 2008 season. This shouldn't come as a major surprise if you've been paying close attention (and if you're paying close attention to long snappers, your football addiction runs deep).
The Chiefs have three long snappers on their roster at the moment so you could've guessed where this thing was going when the Chiefs let Gafford become a free agent last week.
Long snapper is one of those positions you rarely even think about. The only time you notice them is when they do something strong. So here's to the Chiefs signing a long snapper whose name I will never know. And congrats to Gafford on the new gig.
Here are the Chiefs remaining free agents:
G Mike McGlynn
DT Kevin Vickerson
OL Jeff Linkenbach
CB Chris Owens
RT Ryan Harris
RB Joe McKnight
