Chiefs GM says Dwayne Bowe is on the roster, 'part of the process we're going through'

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to eventually part ways with WR Dwayne Bowe, according to multiple reports. That would be NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who says it's coming today, and ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen who say it's expected to happen this week.

So then, what should we make of GM John Dorsey's comment on Dwayne Bowe today?

"This is Jeremy's day," Dorsey said when asked about Bowe's status at Maclin's signing press conference. "With Dwayne, he's on the roster. That's what that is. It's part of the process that we're going through right now. He's here."

Just looking at the cap consequences you could deduce that the Chiefs are likely to release Bowe. It doesn't seem like they could reasonably keep Bowe at his current number ($14M cap number) and include Jeremy Maclin's new deal as well as the increased cap numbers for Justin Houston and Alex Smith in 2015.

So, we'll see what happens.
