The agent for free agent CB Shaquille Richardson tweeted that his client has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
So we can call him Shaq? Great name. This has now been confirmed on the NFL's daily transactions list. He is also six feet tall so that's the size the Chiefs traditionally look for in cornerbacks.
Richardson, who went to Arizona, was a fifth round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers just last year. He did not make the active roster out of training camp but did catch on the practice squad. He eventually reached an injury settlement with the Steelers during the season.
It's going to be an interesting year in the Chiefs secondary. Ron Parker, Chris Owens and Kurt Coleman all saw regular minutes last season and they're all free agents. It's very possible that all three leave actually. The Chiefs will need an infusion of young blood at the position if they're going to lose that many contributors in one offseason.
The Chiefs secondary is a good one to play for. It makes things easier when you're playing behind the guy who almost broke the NFL record for sacks in a single season.
