Husain Abdullah was concussed in the Kansas City Chiefs Week 12 game against the Buffalo Bills and hasn't played since. That could be changing this week as Andy Reid indicated Abdullah could return to practice this week.
"I think he's close, close to being back here. Pretty good chance he'll be back this week. We'll see. Again, that's kind of the day-by-day thing we're talking about."
Chiefs safeties Daniel Sorensen and Tyvon Branch have done an admirable job replacing him but the Chiefs are a better team when Abdullah is out there. In a long-term look, Abdullah's absence wasn't all that bad because it gave valuable playing to younger players such as Sorensen. The Chiefs will benefit from that depth as they have all season in other positions.
Speaking of concussions, it seems the Chiefs have been very patient with concussions this year as a number of players have missed multiple weeks with concussions. Of course you want the player back but it appears the Chiefs are handling these things the right way.
