Alex Smith, Derrick Johnson among Chiefs Pro Bowl alternates

The Kansas City Chiefs saw five players announced to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday evening. There soon could be more Chiefs coming to the Pro Bowl.

The Chiefs announced that they had a few Pro Bowl alternate players.

DJ was the biggest snub of all the Chiefs players, and one of the biggest snubs in the league. He absolutely should have been voted in over Clay Matthews, who was one of the inside linebackers picked.

It's also neat to see Alex Smith's name included there. Sure, he's not throwing for 4,500 yards but he is having a career year and he did nearly set an NFL record for most pass attempts without an interception. That plus an eight-game winning streak and he's worth mentioning. I wouldn't have said it two months ago but Alex Smith looks like the Chiefs MVP right now.

The Chiefs other Pro Bowlers this year were TE Travis Kelce, LB Tamba Hali, LB Justin Houston, S Eric Berry and CB Marcus Peters.
