These are the Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl candidates

We laughed at Pro Football Focus with their most recent power rankings which had the Oakland Raiders AHEAD of the Kansas City Chiefs. And now we praise PFF for their Pro Bowl team which includes four Chiefs defensive players.

Those four Chiefs are: LB Justin Houston, LB Tamba Hali, LB Derrick Johnson and S Eric Berry.

All deserving, no question. Houston is PFF's third ranked pass rusher, although he might be out for the rest of the regular season. The best part of Houston is that he is a complete player in that he is very good at stopping the run, too. Tamba is playing well enough that I think he merits serious consideration for the Chiefs team MVP. DJ came back from an Achilles injury last year and is playing at a Pro Bowl level -- again. What can't this guy do? Oh and then there's this guy, Eric Berry, who is the best story in the NFL this season. He's playing better after chemo than before; how amazing is that?

Which other Chiefs deserve consideration?

  • QB Alex Smith. Yes, I'm serious. At least when the replacement players start coming in.
  • C Mtich Morse is having a solid year as a rookie.
  • WR Jeremy Maclin is top 15 in catches and yards for receivers. Not enough but close.
  • TE Travis Kelce's 59 catches and 749 yards are fifth for tight ends. He should top his 67 catches and 862 yards last year.
  • DE Jaye Howard has had a breakout year.
