Free agent Jon Baldwin worked out for Panthers ... yes, THAT Jon Baldwin

The strange road of Jon Baldwin continues. Yes, you read that name right -- WR Jon Baldwin, the Kansas City Chiefs 2011 first round pick. His name was in the news for the first time in about a year and a half as he worked out for the 13-0 Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers haven't signed him (yet). They could be preparing to sign him to a reserve / futures contract, which would be a contract for next offseason.

Baldwin was drafted by the Chiefs in 2011 and made no impact in KC over two years. Andy Reid and John Dorsey came along and traded him to the 49ers for WR AJ Jenkins. Baldwin lasted about one season in San Francisco while Jenkins last about two seasons in KC.

Baldwin, as everyone in KC remembers, looks like the next great wide receiver. Emphasis on looks. He certainly does look the part at 6'4 and 230 pounds. Unfortunately, he never proved he had the production to back it up. I would be stunned if this turned into anything more than a workout or offseason signing.
