Yes, even Alex Smith will make you pay if you line up with nine in the box.
Smith and the Chiefs had the ball at the 44-yard line in the second quarter of their game against the Chargers. San Diego had nine players in the box which is just daring the Chiefs to throw.
It appeared that Smith was changing the play at the line of scrimmage. He took the snap and did exactly what he should in this scenario. It was a great pass-and-catch combo that was done quickly. Wilson went on to score the touchdown and take the lead against the Chargers.
What happens when Alex Smith reads the defense perfectly? Albert Wilson goes to the house for a 44-yard TD. #SDvsKC https://t.co/PFFlZjXvBc

Smith has been doing this more and more recently which is good news for the Chiefs. If they're not going to give you safety help, the Chiefs need to test them. Smith is doing that more.
