Ben Grubbs is about to miss his third consecutive game for the Kansas City Chiefs due to what the Chiefs have called a neck injury. Andy Reid said he is making progress but they don't know what his status is for the rest of the season. He has already been ruled out of Sunday's game in San Diego.
"Well we don't (know if he will return) but he is making progress and that's a good thing as far as soreness or any of that," Reid said, via quotes from the Chiefs. "It's headed in that positive direction, but inevitably it will come back down to an MRI and that type of thing to make sure everything is okay."
The Chiefs have been playing with Jeff Allen at left guard, and that's worked out pretty well. However, it leaves the Chiefs will less flexibility at right tackle with Allen at left guard.
A bit of good news, Tyvon Branch returned to practice. He was getting more tests done on his injured foot but the fact that he has returned is good news for the Chiefs dime packages.
Meanwhile, Allen Bailey remained out but Reid indicated that he was getting closer. Sounds like there's hope that he could be around this week. The same goes for Tamba Hali, who did not practice but has been given days off during the week so I suspect he'll be OK. Also of note is that Sean Smith missed practice with a knee contusion.
