The back-handed compliment of the year goes to Kansas City Chiefs safety Ron Parker. The Denver Post quoted him after the game as saying this about Broncos QB Peyton Manning:
"He struggled a little bit, had a hard time finding receivers, made some bad decisions. That's him. He's getting pretty old. He's still a good quarterback. He tried hard."
HE TRIED HARD! That's the quote of the year so far.
DJ gave a good one as well (via the other AP):
"Is (Manning) the type of quarterback he showed today? No. He's still a great quarterback -- just not what he used to be. Today, we had our way."
Manning was clearly not Manning. It was awkward to watch a once-great quarterback put out one of the worst performances in NFL history. Now we're starting to figure out why he was so bad.
