The Kansas City Chiefs AND Kansas City Royals will be playing on Sunday afternoon (October 11). And the timing is going to be very tight in order to see both games.
The Chiefs will play the Bears at 12 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) which means their game should end somewhere around 3 p.m. Just a few minutes after 3 p.m., the Royals will be visiting the Astros in Houston for Game 3 of the ALDS. The official game time is 3:10 p.m. (Kauffman Time).
This is not ideal for those of you who are going to the Chiefs game. I imagine it will have a small affect on attendance at Arrowhead given that the Chiefs are 1-3, the Bears aren't very good and the local baseball team is in the bigger game. Also, given some of Arrowhead's parking issues, I wouldn't have confidence in getting out of the stadium in a reasonable time after it ends. What I'm saying is, I can understand if someone decides to skip the Chiefs game so they can assure themselves of seeing the full Royals game. Fair enough.
What the Chiefs should do (and I'm sure MLB won't allow them) is play the Royals game on the Jumbotron at Arrowhead after the Chiefs game ends. Someone had that idea before.
Sunday's game is the only conflict so far. If the Royals advance to the ALCS, we'll continue to monitor the conflicts next weekend.
