Some Kansas City Chiefs fans are upset about losing a home game to London because not only is it a competitive disadvantage with just seven home games this year but it also means one less Sunday to tailgate early in the morning.
But what if you could be heading out to Arrowhead early Sunday morning anyway and watch the Chiefs play the Lions at Arrowhead? Apparently that was considered by the Chiefs, according to this report from ESPN's Adam Teicher.
President Mark Donovan said the Chiefs believe their fans will watch in their usual big numbers. He indicated the Chiefs were contemplating opening Arrowhead Stadium for a watch party but decided against it because of the early kickoff hour.
I have no clue how many folks would have showed up but that would have been pretty cool. Those who wanted to tailgate could go out there and tailgate and watch the Chiefs in the most unique way possible: on the Jumbotron at Arrowhead.
I can also see why the Chiefs may not want to do this. With 3/4ths of the city expected to stay up late on Saturday night to watch the Royals, attendance would probably be waning. That and the whole 2-5 thing and it's probably for the best that they didn't do this.
