The expects are mostly picking the Pittsburgh Steelers to beat the Kansas City Chiefs while Vegas has the Chiefs as 3-point favorites. It's tough to justify picking the 1-5 Chiefs to beat the 4-2 Steelers but perhaps a third string QB starting is what we need to pick the Chiefs.
Here are the Arrowhead Pride staff picks for this week. Make your own prediction at the bottom.
Joel Thorman: Steelers 24 Chiefs 19
The line has suddenly changed to make the Chiefs a 3-point favorite in the game. If Landry Jones is starting and not Ben Roethlisberger, the Chiefs can win this game. But of course I said the same thing about beating the Broncos, Bears and Vikings and that didn't happen. Something is not right with this team.
MNChiefsfan: Steelers 17 Chiefs 10
The bleeding continues as the Chiefs offense once again shows how remarkably dependent it was on Jamaal Charles being incredible. Fan pressure to bench Alex Smith increases and the defense has another solid performance wasted. Donald Stephenson drops all pretenses and actually intercepts a Smith pass and runs it back. He is furious when it's merely a safety and not a pick-six.
Clay Wendler: Steelers 20 Chiefs 13
The Steelers may err on the side of caution and sit Ben Roethlisberger against a struggling Chiefs team. Landry Jones will still be more than enough to win against a Chiefs offense that looks to be getting even worse with Jeremy Maclin likely missing this weekend's game. Pittsburgh is allowing only 3.7 YPC this year, which means it will all fall on Alex Smith - throwing to Jason Avant and Albert Wilson - to win this game again. *gulp*
Stagdsp: Steelers 21 Chiefs 24
It has to end sometime, why not this week? Maybe the Chiefs show it isn't a totally lost season? I doubt it, but it's possible.
Matt Conner: Steelers 10 Chiefs 14
Somehow I'm still a believer. Not sure what that belief is in or even founded on but at least an inexperienced QB against a strong defense should tip the scales. Note that should has never applied to the Chiefs this year.
Super G: Steelers 14 Chiefs 16
Both sides have trouble moving the ball. The Chiefs defense plays well for the third week in a row with virtually no help from the offense. Three Santos field goals and a defensive touchdown lead the Chiefs to victory after a couple of turnovers from Landry Jones. If Aaron Murray or Chase Daniel gets the start, the offense will score more than 16 points. I wouldn't be surprised to see Smith sit this game out, something about that thumb injury seems suspicious to me.
