It is surprising when I tell you that the Kansas City Chiefs are *only* two-point underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. After all, the Steelers are 4-2 on the season while the lowly Chiefs are just 1-5 and losers of five straight.
However, there's more to the story. The Steelers seem set at this point to start third string QB Landry Jones with Michael Vick injured last week and Ben Roethlisberger apparently not quite ready to come back. It's possible that Big Ben does come back this weekend - I wouldn't count him out - but the Steelers are preparing for Jones to start.
So I think the line is better reflected when you say the Chiefs are two-point home underdogs against a third string QB.
Not all the lines have been posted as folks wait for more clarity on Roethlisberger's injury. If it's determined he will play, I suspect that line should go up.
I know you're not supposed to play the what if game but I think what if the Chiefs had beaten the Broncos and Bears and they were sitting here at 3-3. Then seeing a third string QB starting would be a blessing against a team like the Steelers. But now Landry Jones is more just an obstruction in the Chiefs path to the No. 1 pick.
