The replacement for Jamaal Charles is ... Charcandrick West! At least that's the way it seems to be as I review the snap counts in the Kansas City Chiefs 16-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. With Charles out, West received 10 touches in 43 snaps on the field while Davis had six touches in 19 snaps. Neither were overly effective against a stingy Vikings defense, although it seemed the Chiefs never got into a rhythm with the running game and came out of the gate passing the ball.
The Chiefs had 62 snaps on offense and 70 snaps on defense. Tamba Hali, who was questionable entering the game with a knee injury, played all 70 snaps. Dang. Dee Ford played just five snaps in the game. My best guess here is that the Chiefs preferred Tamba when it came to stopping the run.
Jeremy Maclin got in 47 snaps before he was removed with a concussion. Albert Wilson in turn saw more snaps, including a 42-yard touchdown on a screen pass. Mike DeVito was also concussed and replaced by Nick Williams.
Rookie CB Steven Nelson saw some playing time with 14 snaps. He also had two penalties (roughing the passer, holding) in his time in the game, although one penalty came on special teams.
