Chiefs offense ran 20 fewer plays than the Bears in the loss

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs ran 21 more plays than the Bengals but scored 15 fewer points. This week against the Chicago Bears, the Chiefs ran 20 fewer plays than the Bears and scored one less point than they did. Some of that came from the Chiefs scoring a defensive touchdown in the first quarter, which mean the offense was hardly on the field.

The Chiefs snap counts are difficult to look at this morning because of Jamaal Charles' 36 of the 78 snaps. Jamaal went down with what the Chiefs are saying is a torn ACL, which will end his season. Charcandrick West took the bulk of the snaps in his absence with 18. Knile Davis had four snaps.

Other Chiefs snap count observations:

Despite being active for the first time, CB Steven Nelson didn't play any defensive snaps.

The Chiefs saw Jeff Allen finally play -- but just one snap. He came in on a heavy package on a third and short.

LB Ramik Wilson replaced injured LB Josh Mauga in the game and played 39 snaps.

DE Mike DeVito had 20 snaps while Jaye Howard (51) and Allen Bailey (57) handled the majority of the other snaps.

The Chiefs continue working with their second and third tight ends as James O'Shaughnessy had 19 snaps and Demetrius Harris had 16 snaps.

NT Dontari Poe played 64 of the 78 snaps.
