The Kansas City Chiefs have responded at the right time before

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are 1-2 on the season and another loss would put a serious dent in their playoff hopes. They have had their backs against the wall like this before, and they have responded in the past.

In the 2013 season, the Chiefs started 9-0 on the year and then lost three straight games. They responded with games of 45 and 56 points after those three losses. Granted that came against Washington and Oakland.

In the 2014 season, the Chiefs lost their first two games of the year. They responded with wins of 34 and 41 points in the following two weeks. Those came against better opponents in Miami and New England.

Later in the 2014 season, the Chiefs lost three straight and responded with a 31-point game against Oakland.

You can look at this one of two ways. The Chiefs are either two games into their losing streak and that continues this week against Cincinnati. Or this is the game where they respond.

Based on how Andy Reid is reacting this week - he was uncharacteristically short in his postgame presser in Green Bay, even for Andy Reid - I believe he knows how important it is that the Chiefs have their response now, and not in two weeks.

Is this the week the Chiefs respond?
