So I saw this tweet from Adam Schefter:
Chiefs denied permission to Redskins to interview Gary Gibbs for their DC job, per source.

And I thought, huh, this is weird. Just last week Chiefs coach Andy Reid and GM John Dorsey had their year-end press conferences and indicated that they would not stand in the way of any of their coaches or front office folks taking a promotion someplace else.
It turns out, the Chiefs may have technically denied the request only because LB coach Gary Gibbs turned it down. This according to the KC Star's Terez Paylor.
A team source confirms Gary Gibbs will not be interviewing with Washington, but says #Chiefs did not block interview, he turned it down.

A coach on the Chiefs defense is in a pretty good spot right now because they had another solid season. This applies especially to Gibbs, who coaches the best linebacker in the NFL in Justin Houston (yeah, I said it). Given Houston's progression and Dee Ford coming up, I'm glad he's staying in Kansas City.
