The weekly 2015 NFL mock drafts from SB Nation probably won't have many positions besides wide receiver selected as we await the start of the actual NFL Draft. Receiver is the sexy pick this year because of the stat*. There was an offensive lineman picked in an early edition but since then it's been receiver. That continues today with SB Nation once again sending Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong to the Chiefs.
Dan Kadar writes:
Don't expect this pick to change anytime soon. If Strong happens to be gone, though, another wide receiver like Dorial Green-Beckham could be the pick. If not a wide receiver, the Chiefs could target a defensive lineman or offensive lineman.
He mentions defensive line, which would be an ... interesting pick. The Chiefs have Dontari Poe obviously, and they signed DE Allen Bailey to a contract extension this offseason. The Chiefs also have DEs Jaye Howard and Vance Walker, along with Mike DeVito returning from injury. The Chiefs do need help for Poe but I don't think that's a first round type of pick. That's more of a depth move.
Besides receiver, I could get on board with the offensive line, probably a tackle. The problem with that pick is that you already have Eric Fisher and Donald Stephenson. The question here really comes down to whether Stephenson is part of the Chiefs future or not. With the way he finished the 2014 season, that's obviously a legitimate question.
Recently, ESPN's Mel Kiper sent Dorial Green-Beckham to the Chiefs. Yes, another receiver...
*No receiver touchdowns. You know that by now.
