This stat shows how amazing Jamaal Charles has been for the Kansas City Chiefs

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Hey, did you guys hear that Jamaal Charles is really, really good?

OK, maybe you have heard that but I came across a stat that shows just how damn good the Kansas City Chiefs RB has been over the past five years.

Charles rushed for over 1,000 yards and 5.0 yards per carry this season, the fifth time he has done so. Michael David Smith at Pro Football Talk points out the list of players in NFL history who have rushed for over 1,000 yards and a 5.0 yards per carry average five times (or more). That list is: Jim Brown and Barry Sanders. That's it.

That's elite company. Brown and Sanders are two of the best players of all-time, and both are in the Hall of Fame. Charles' overall numbers don't scream Hall of Fame because he hasn't been doing it long enough. He's currently the 61st all-time leading rusher. If we gave him another 2,500 rushing yards for his career, he would be ranked in the 30s. So he's a ways away from putting up Hall of Fame rushing numbers but it's hard to ignore how effective he is every time he touches the ball.

Here's to Jamaal making it season No. 6 with 1,000 and 5.0 in 2015.
