Chiefs' De'Anthony Thomas, Marcus Cooper out with injury vs. Titans

The Chiefs players who will not dress vs. the Titans.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without RB De'Anthony Thomas and CB Marcus Cooper in Sunday's season opener against the Tennessee Titans. DAT was doubtful to play the game so we're not all that surprised he's not playing. Cooper, meanwhile, was questionable after an ankle injury popped up. He will not play.

Cooper was listed as a starting cornerback. Replacing him will be Sean Smith and Ron Parker. The Chiefs can handle his loss in base defense but it will get more difficult if they need another corner (besides nickel Chris Owens) because rookie Phillip Gaines is behind them.

DAT was the Chiefs running back / receiver / punt returner. His biggest loss will be on special teams where Frankie Hammond will return punts in his absence. The Chiefs have three other running backs on the roster so they can manage his loss on offense.

Here are the rest of the inactives: Aaron Murray, Eric Kush, Damion Square, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Kurt Coleman.

Those are players that will not dress and will not play. Among them, Damion Square and Kurt Coleman were both signed this week.

Reminder: WR Dwayne Bowe and OT Donald Stephenson are both suspended and will not play.
