Packers vs. Seahawks 2014 season opener: Scouting Seattle

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

UpdateIt was a rout. 36-16, Seahawks.

It's the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks to kick off the 2014 NFL season this evening in Seattle. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) and can be seen on NBC. You can stream online at NBC Sports. Your SB Nation blogs are Field Gulls and Acme Packing Company.

Since the Chiefs play the Seahawks this season (Week 11), I am going to be keeping an eye on them. Here are a few things I'll be wondering about for the Chiefs-Seahawks game while I watch this one tonight:

1. How effective Jamaal Charles can be

Because if Jamaal isn't effective, hang 'em up. It's over. The Chiefs aren't getting very far unless Jamaal can be the centerpiece of the offense. I'll be watching to see how a back like Jamaal could have success against Seattle.

2. About that offensive line...

I guess what you're hoping for if you're a Chiefs fan is that the Chiefs offensive line, who is very young, gets a lot better in a short period of time. By November, the Chiefs are going to have to be rolling on all cylinders to compete with the Seahawks pass rush. They can ruin the game pretty easily.

3. Chiefs D vs. Russell Wilson

If you didn't know, Wilson has been on fire this preseason. I mean really, really good. The Chiefs will obviously need to create turnovers to win in this game. Wilson only has 19 interceptions in his first two NFL seasons. The Chiefs will need to get one of those. I want to see how careful Wilson is with the ball when pass rushers (Hey Houston and Tamba) come around the corner.
