Chiefs' Andy Reid said doctors are still looking at Mike Catapano

No word on what's wrong with the Chiefs 2013 seventh round pick.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

Kansas City Chiefs DE Mike Catapano practiced just a handful of times during training camp with what the Chiefs called an illness. He was placed on the non-football injury list to start the season. It's Week 2 and we still don't know what's wrong with Catapano, and it sounds like the Chiefs don't either.

Here's an exchange from Andy Reid's press conference today. (KC Star's Terez Paylor was asking the questions).

Q: Do we know what's wrong with Mike Catapano yet? Is he in town?

Reid: We don't have anything for you on that. They're still doing research on that and we'll see how things go.

Q: Have you ever seen anything like what's happening with him, whatever it is?

Reid: It's a concern obviously. Our docs are on top of it. He's seen some specialists and they're on top of it. There are no conclusions that have been set yet but they're working on stuff there. They're in communication. My thing is, I always care for the player and you want the best for them at this point. We'll just see how things work out.

Q: Is Mike in good spirits? Have you talked to him?

Reid: John Dorsey [talked to him] yesterday. He just wants to make sure he's OK. That's the main thing.

Q: Is it a coordination type thing, is there anything ... it's not flu-like symptoms. I don't know how to describe it.

Reid: I'm not sure I know how to describe it either right now. We'd have to get something from the doctors to tell you exactly. I'm not in that position right there.
