Kansas City Chiefs sign CB off Baltimore Ravens practice squad

The KC Chiefs added a cornerback ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

The Kansas City Chiefs roster move heavy week continues. The Chiefs are adding CB Jamell Fleming from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, according to Yahoo! Sports Rand Getlin and the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson. The official transaction wire should be out this afternoon.

You may not realize that players on the practice squad can sign with any other team at any time. The deal is, however, that the player must be paid for three weeks on the 53-man roster. So if you're going to do it, you better like that player enough to knock another player off the 53-man roster. We'll see who the Chiefs release as a result of this move.

Fleming, who went to Oklahoma, stands 5'11 and weighs 206 pounds. He was originally a third round pick by the Arizona Cardinals back in 2012. He spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Ravens practice squad.

Here's how the Chiefs listed their corner depth earlier this week:

LCB: Marcus Cooper, Ron Parker, Phillip Gaines

RCB: Sean Smith, Chris Owens

Here's what our Ravens blog said about the move.
