The Kansas City Chiefs lost by 16 points to the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. They'll be playing a much, much better team in Week 2 in the Denver Broncos. As you'd expect, oddsmakers have chosen a clear favorite in this game.
The Broncos are currently listed as 14-point favorites over the Chiefs. 14 points. That's a lot, huh? It's the biggest line of this young NFL season.
This game opened at 12.5 points so even without the Chiefs crapping the bed against the Titans last week the line likely would have been pretty big. It's clear as day that the Broncos are the best team in the AFC and it's not really close. The Patriots and perhaps Colts feel like the only real contenders in the AFC.
Obviously, these point spreads don't really mean anything (except for gambling purposes) as the Chiefs learned last week. The Chiefs were 3-point favorites over the Titans at home -- a game that dropped from six points -- and lost by 16.
I do not expect the Chiefs to beat the Broncos. The goal here should be to keep it reasonable. Keep it within 7-10 points? Fine by me. That's what I'm hoping for out of the Chiefs in Week 2 vs. Denver.
