NFL waiver wire: Kansas City Chiefs have 13 roster cuts clear waivers

13 of the players released by the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday have cleared waivers.

Jamie Squire

Those Kansas City Chiefs roster cuts from Saturday who are not vested veterans have cleared waivers. There are 13 in total from the Chiefs, who cut these players on Saturday.

Clearing waivers makes these players free agents and eligible to sign with other teams. The Chiefs have yet to formally announce their practice squad but the players in bold have been reported to be joining the Chiefs practice squad.

S Jonathon Amaya
S Malcolm Bronson
FB Jordan Campbell
DL Dominique Hamilton
WR Mark Harrison
G Ricky Henry
LB Alonzo Highsmith
LB Nico Johnson
CB Justin Rogers
DE Kona Schwenke
LB Devan Walker
RB Charcandrick West
WR Fred Williams

Of note in this group is LB Nico Johnson, the Chiefs 2013 fourth round pick. As we noted on Saturday, CB DeMarcus Van Dyke was waived / injured and since he cleared waivers he reverts to the Chiefs injured reserve.

The waiver wire order is in draft order and teams can put a claim in on a player. The team with the highest spot on the waiver wire wins the rights to that player. The thing is, they must put that player on the 53-man roster if they choose to claim him (as the Chiefs did with DL Damion Square). The Chiefs pick 23rd on the waiver wire.
