One of the reasons I have been high on the Kansas City Chiefs defensive line is because of Mike Catapano, a 2013 seventh round pick who looked like he had bulked up. Due to what the Chiefs have called an illness, Catapano has missed nearly a month of practice and has yet to play in the preseason.
"Well, we are getting tests done on him just to see what it is, make sure he's OK," Andy Reid said on Tuesday. "That's what [Chiefs head trainer] Rick [Burkholder] does, our docs do so they are as thorough as can be with him and just find out what's wrong there."
Well I certainly hope for the best for Catapano whatever this issue is.
As Chiefs Spin pointed out, Catapano missed nine days at training camp and another four back in Kansas City. I rounded up those dates Catapano has not practiced since this started. It's quite a bit once you sit down and look at all of it. He practiced for a string of days in August after nearly two weeks of missed time but then took another week off before returning briefly for one practice. The missing dates are off days before and after the Chiefs preseason games.
