Welcome to primetime!
That's what we will soon be saying to the Kansas City Chiefs as their next scheduled game is on national TV. The Chiefs will play the Carolina Panthers this Sunday night for their second preseason game this year. The game will be nationally televised on Fox at 7 p.m. (Arrowhead Time). The game is in Carolina.
Meet the enemy this week
Meet the enemy this week
The 2013 Panthers were a lot like the 2013 Chiefs. Both were surprise teams coming off losing seasons. Both were led by their defense. It's that defense that will be a great test for the 2014 Chiefs. Folks are worried about the Chiefs offense and their ability to score. Though it may just be for a quarter, facing the Panthers defense is a terrific test. They're strong up front with an excellent defensive line, as well as Luke Kuechly, who is one of the best linebackers in the game.
The Chiefs have a 10-day break in between games, having played last Thursday and not playing until Sunday night. That's one of the longest preseason breaks I remember seeing for KC in a long time.
This will be the first national TV game for the Chiefs this season. They will play in the regular season -- Monday Night Football vs. New England Patriots, Thursday Night Football vs. Oakland Raiders and Sunday Night Football vs. Denver Broncos.
Here is the Chiefs full preseason schedule:
Week 1: Cincinnati Bengals
Week 2: at Carolina Panthers (Aug. 17, 7 p.m., Fox)
Week 3: Minnesota Vikings (Aug. 23, 7 p.m., KCTV-5)
Week 4: at Green Bay Packers (Aug. 28, 6 p.m., KCTV-5)
