The last memory of Kansas City Chiefs football I, and all of us have, is a horrendous one. In a week from today, that will no longer be the case.
The Chiefs rookies and quarterbacks will be breaking the seal on training camp this Sunday, with the rest of the veterans reporting on July 23 for the first public practice the next day. After a brutal winter, a long spring and a hot beginning to the summer, football is finally back.
For so many years including recent ones, the Chiefs have come into camp with slight expectations. This year, many including myself see this team as a playoff-caliber unit which should provide consecutive playoff berths for the first time since 1994-95.
Despite a tougher schedule and a few losses in personnel, I believe the value of having the same system two years in a row will pay massive dividends. Factor in some maturation and additions such as Vance Walker, Dee Ford, De'Anthony Thomas and Travis Kelce, and I'm excited for what I expect to be a better team than 2013.
Still not excited? Let's change that by first going through some epic moments from yesteryear, via YouTube:
