Buffalo Bills star linebacker Kiko Alonso has torn his ACL in an offseason workout session in Oregon. Alonso was one of the best rookies in the NFL last season, winning various rookie of the month and rookie of the year awards. His injury is an absolute blow to the Bills defense. One of the rising stars in the league.
The comments at Buffalo Rumblings are understandably crazy.
WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE THINGS?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!!
Probably one of the worst possible scenarios plays out this year. The one time we finally make a bid at number one overall pick would be the year bills traded it.
Just woke up from bashing my head against the wall until I lost consciousness.
Is anyone really surprised? Ya know, cuz Bills.
I bring these comments up because they sound awfully similar to some of the things Chiefs fans said after Eric Berry tore his ACL against the Bills in the 2011 season. This whole situation feels similar to the Berry injury in 2011, his second in the league. Both players were coming off impressive rookies seasons, both were expected to be huge parts of their defense and both had to miss the entire season (assuming Alonso does). Doesn't this feel like a really similar situation? Just a bad injury for all parties involved.
The offense will benefit from the loss of Alonso in Week 10 this year when the Chiefs play the Bills for the gazillionth time in a row.
Our message to Buffalo Rumblings, based on our experience, is this: It will get worse. Eventually, your head coach will get fired and Tyler Palko will be starting games for you.
