Jamaal Charles one of several Chiefs not participating at OTAs on Thursday

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles was one of a few notable Chiefs players who weren't participating in Thursday's Chiefs OTAs.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Alert the media! KC Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles was not present at Thursday's OTAs.

Yes, everyone's first thought is that this is not good. That's just the way fans are wired, especially Chiefs fans. But these practices are voluntary and players have lives outside of football.

Herbie Teope of Chiefs Spin reports that Knile Davis and Joe McKnight split first team reps with Charles out.

Unfortunately, that's not where the bad news ends.

1. Offseason addition WR Weston Dressler came down with an injury, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher.

Hamstrings suck. They're the type of injury that can linger, at least in my limited experience following the NFL.

2. Junior Hemingway missed practice again. He is sick, according to Nick Jacobs.
