2014 NFL mock draft: DT Ra'Shede Hageman to Seattle Seahawks with 32nd pick

With the 32nd pick in the 2014 Arrowhead Pride mock draft. Seattle Seahawks GM misterbrain selects ...

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

I was all ready to whine and complain about how craig's pick finished the pattern of each of my top five targets being stolen right before me.  Then craig went off the rails and disgraced all that is sacred about mock drafts by intentionally picking a third or fourth rounder out of spite.

I was tempted to follow his lead though and draft a Jayhawk player just so that we could have one in the NFL that isn't on Denver's squad. Looking at the options, Sims was the only one even remotely justifiable as even being drafted. No way I can force Seattle fans to endure having to pick a likely sixth rounder with their Super Bowl-winning first round draft pick.

So looking at actual needs for the team, there are a few glaring ones for this team: OT, WR, DT/DE with ability to get pressure.

Without a top-flight OT left on the board, my attention turned to two players: Allen Robinson, WR from Penn State, and Ra'shede Hageman, DT from Minnesota.

Both players have some concerns, but for me it really came down to the Seahawks' team philosophy.  So with the 32nd pick in the 2014 AP Mock NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select:

Minnesota DT Ra'shede Hageman

Hageman is a relentless presence on the line, able to frequently disrupt the backfield. His athleticism has huge upside, and in a lot of ways his rise is reminiscent of Dontari Poe, with his measurables much better than you would expect based on his tape. While I'm not predicting a Dontari-esque explosion, he falls into the same "project" category.

Seattle is well known for hitting on several of their project players under Pete Carroll, so this seems like the perfect opportunity to keep that legacy going.
