A brief history of the Kansas City Chiefs preseason schedule

There are a few things we can learn about the preseason scheduling process that you never knew you really, really wanted to know.

With the Kansas City Chiefs preseason schedule set to be released Wednesday afternoon, here's a look at the Chiefs last five years of preseason games:

2013: Saints, 49ers, Steelers, Packers
2012: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, Packers
2011: Bucs, Ravens, Rams, Packers
2010: Falcons, Bucs, Eagles, Packers
2009: Texans, Vikings, Seahawks, Rams

There are 20 preseason games here over the last five years. A few trends that come up:

  • 17 of these games are against NFC teams.
  • The Chiefs played the Rams in years when they did not play them in the regular season. The Chiefs play the Rams in the regular season this year.
  • The Chiefs have played the Packers in the preseason finale every season since 2010.
For my preseason prediction, give me the Falcons, Eagles, Bears and Packers.
