Early 2014 NFL odds: Chiefs already favorites over the Titans in Week 1

Sure the season is months away but let's get your gambling fix ready now.

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

By now everyone knows the Kansas City Chiefs open the season against the Tennessee Titans. The game will be played at Arrowhead, which means the Chiefs 2014 season will officially open in the world's loudest stadium (if you publish it, it's true).

The Chiefs will be expected to win their first game as they are 5.5-point favorites over the Titans, according to odds from Las Vegas.

That the Chiefs are favored is not a surprise. Over 16 games last season, the Chiefs proved they were the better team. They also proved it in a 26-17 victory over the Titans last season, a game where the Chiefs scored three times in the final six and a half minutes to secure the game.

The Titans were good early on last year but couldn't keep it up the rest of the way (sounds familiar). After a 3-1 start, Tennessee finished the season 7-9. They were 19th in points scored and 16th in points allowed. An average team.

With the Titans losing one of their top offensive weapons in Chris Johnson, this needs to be a game that the Chiefs win. There are far too many hard teams on the schedule in 2014 to have many screw-ups on teams they should beat. The good thing is that the Chiefs were really good at beating they teams they should have last year; it was the playoff teams they struggled with.

The other part of this game? Dexter McCluster. He signed a 3-year deal with the Titans over the offseason. It'll be fun to see him in Arrowhead again.

Most Chiefs fans are going to be marking this one up as a win. Home opener at Arrowhead? I got that as a W, too.
