2014 NFL mock draft: LT Jake Matthews to Pittsburgh Steelers with 15th pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the midst of a somewhat major rebuild having lost key players and leaders across the board over the last couple of seasons such as James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley, Brett Keisel, and most recently Emmanuel Sanders.

However, one thing that they have that other teams in rebuild mode usually don't possess is a true franchise QB in Big Ben Roethlisberger. When I think of Big Ben, the images that come to mind are getting knocked around in the pocket, limping around the field and still managing to pull out big wins for the Steelers. At age 32 I'm not sure how much more damage he can endure so fixing the offensive line has to be first priority for Pittsburgh.

Their left tackle Kelvin Beachum has shown flashes but was the last of their four seventh round picks in 2012 and is more of a natural guard while Marcus Gilbert and Mike Adams share time at right tackle so the bookends are more than a little shaky in the steel city. But somehow the most NFL-ready LT in this draft, a day one starter, dropped right into their lap at 15 and might just have extended Big Ben's playing career by a few seasons.
