2014 NFL mock draft: TE Eric Ebron to Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 7th pick

Mike Evans would've been my pick for Tampa if Pioli South hadn't taken him.

North Carolina TE Eric Ebron

Getting Ebron is an excellent consolation. The best tight end to come out in the last few years, Ebron has a rare blend of size, speed and athleticism that compares him to Vernon Davis in San Francisco. Adding a dynamic playmaker to the middle of the field will help whoever ultimately quarterbacks the Bucs this year and for the next few years.

New offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford will have a lot of fun coming up with ways to create mismatches with this versatile pass catcher. While he does leave something to be desired with his blocking, Ebron still has plenty of time to add more size to his frame and improve as in-line blocker. Ebron fits the mold of a potentially elite, modern NFL tight end.
