2014 NFL mock draft: WR Mike Evans to Atlanta Falcons with 6th pick

With the 5th pick in the 2014 Arrowhead Pride mock draft, Atlanta Falcons GM Chieftruelove selects...

Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

I know this pick comes off as a head scratcher, but I think there are some good reasons behind it. The obvious pick here is an OT, probably Jake Matthews. But let's remember, this is a pretty deep draft at a lot of positions. I also don't think Matthews is elite. This could have turned out different if Auburn OT Greg Robinson was still available.

But we're here now and I'll explain why. Every year this becomes more and more of a passing league, and while this draft class is pretty solid at the WR position, Sammy Watkins, and Mike Evans are in a tier above the rest.

Texas A&M WR Mike Evans

With a declining Roddy white, no other viable receiver option other than a "Harry Douglas", and an NFC that is putting together defenses that are making a cameo in the new Transformer movie, Matty Ice needs a Julio Jones clone.

Since that's impossible (for now), this is as close as they can get, and it could and would be the best WRs in the league. At 6'5 and 225 pounds, it is very hard to match Evans' ability to get physical and to win a battle for position in the air.
