2014 NFL mock draft: DE/LB Jadeveon Clowney to the Houston Texans with pick No. 1

With the 1st pick in the 2014 Arrowhead Pride mock draft, Houston Texans GM kuchiefs13 selects ...

South Carolina DE / LB Jadeveon Clowney

You can't argue with 6'5, 266 pounds, and a 4.53 40-yard dash time. He isn't the perfect fit, but he's clearly the most talented player in the draft. I was considering taking Buffalo LB Khalil Mack because of the fit, but Clowney is simply a monster.

A lot of people are worried about work ethic and maturity. I'm not too worried about the work ethic -- maybe a little bit in regards to maturity -- but I have a feeling that JJ Watt can handle him in the locker room.

Two main reasons for this pick: He's unbelievably talented and you can't pass up the option of having an absolutely devastating defensive line with Clowney and Watt coming off the edge (especially when facing, the solid but overrated Andrew Luck twice a year).

Frankly, you have to take a player with his skill set if given the option. Similar to the Chiefs and Ravens, the Texans defense can turn into a 3-4/4-3 hybrid with putting Clowney on the edge. With the offensive playmakers they have (Andre Johnson, DeAndre Hopkins, ArianFoster), a QB can be taken later in the draft. Nothing helps a young QB more than offensive weapons and a great defense to give them great field position.
