It's not the big free agent splash we've been waiting for but the Kansas City Chiefs did cut two players today, according to the NFL's transactions list. LB Robert James and TE Dominique Jones have both been cut. James was a vested veteran so he becomes an unrestricted free agent while Jones, who was on the NFI list, will be subject to the waiver wire.
James was signed at the end of last season when another linebacker, James-Michael Johnson, had to go on IR. Jones was on the practice squad and brought up to the 53-man roster at the end of the season. Jones has three career receptions, none with the Chiefs.
Both players were obviously near the end of the roster so this doesn't affect the Chiefs much. Starting this week teams will be releasing their own players for salary cap reasons and by Tuesday others will become free agents. So there are a lot more moves coming.
